From October 17th to 19th, the finals of the Liaoning Provincial Mechanical Innovation Design Competition for Undergraduate Students of General Colleges and Universities, sponsored by the Provincial Education Department and Finance Department, were held at Liaoning Technical University. More than 1,000 participants, including over 30 experts in the field of mechanical innovation design from within the province, more than 230 teams from 27 universities, and representatives of teachers and students from various universities, took part in the competition. After three days of on-site competition, the team from Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology won one first prize, four second prizes, four third prizes, one Most Popular Work Award, and the Excellent Organization Unit Award, achieving a breakthrough in winning a first prize in this competition for our university since 2019!
The participating team was led by teacher Xiao Meng, with Huang Zhidong, Wang Zhong, Wang Rensheng, Gao Shujie, Gu Quan, Yang Cuiying, and others serving as advisors. A total of 11 teams from Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology successfully advanced to the finals. Among them, the work "An Intelligent High-Efficiency Cleaning and Cutting Machine for Ribfish" designed by Chang Jingqi, Wang Donghao, Han Zijian, Zheng Haoyuan, and Shao Yang from the Electromechanical BG23 class of the School of Mechanical Engineering stood out and won the first prize and the Most Popular Work Award in this competition.
The competition closely adheres to the core principle of "cultivating innovation ability", deeply implementing the educational philosophy of "promoting teaching, learning, and practice through competitions" by inspiring innovative thinking and strengthening practical abilities. Students not only deepen their understanding of mechanical principles and engineering practice, but also enhance their team collaboration and engineering application abilities in the process of solving complex practical problems. The school has always attached great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education, continuously participating in such high-level competitions, effectively stimulating students' innovative potential, honing their professional qualities and comprehensive abilities, and helping the school achieve breakthroughs and accumulate valuable experience in previous competitions. This fully reflects the school's solid foundation in cultivating applied talents, demonstrates the effectiveness of the "student-centered, ability-oriented" teaching reform, and injects strong impetus into the connotative construction of the school.
